The Law of Attraction

Early this year, my yoga instructor put out a message that she was going to host a yoga retreat in Greece. I had never thought about travelling to Greece but for some reason, this trip spoke to me through my heart. I knew that I really wanted to go on this trip. I stayed positive about the possibility of being able to attend this retreat even though I had been laid off from my job.

In March, I received notice that I was eligible for a bonus from my company for the prior year results. The bonus was deposited and my check was written for the full amount to cover the trip’s cost!

Ask and you shall receive!

Late this summer, I approached my husband and my mother about selling our large home and moving in with the kids (which will be a future blog topic). I did not want to continue having the expense and responsibility of keeping up two homes (we have a small second home on a river property in Central Minnesota). I was looking for freedom at this phase of our lives. My family was very supportive in my idea of selling our current home and setting up a home with the kids where we would each have our own space to call home – so we put the house on the market in late September.

I was excited about the possibility of selling this house and being free from some financial responsibilities that we currently have. We put our home on the market and on the second day, our neighbors who are renting next door, put in an offer and we signed the sale agreement! Literally two days on the market and our house sells! An added bonus was the fact that I was able to sign all of the papers and leave for my trip to Greece without having to worry about having the house on the market.

Attract what you want through your positive thoughts!

I had purchased a copy of Esther and Jerry Hicks’ The Law of Attraction book to read on the plane. I intuitively knew that I have been utilizing The Law of Attraction throughout my life, but reading the book reminded me that I need to be careful in what I am thinking…

The Law of Attraction can work both positively and not so positively for us, depending on our thoughts. If I was worried and had negative feelings that we would not sell the house timely – guess what? We would not have sold the house timely. If I was worried about having the financial means to go on the Greece retreat – I would have not had the money to go on the retreat.

The Universe only hears “I want” even when we are thinking “I do not want”!

Our thoughts are vibrational in energy. If we are worried or telling ourselves that we want to be wealthy but we worry about our finances all of the time, we are putting attention on the negative aspect of our financial situation and we will not find an abundance in financial resources. If we want abundance in health, wealth, and love – we need to see ourselves in abundance with health, wealth and love. We need to reset quickly to a positive, higher vibration anytime we start to worry or complain. It definitely takes some work to be positive constantly and to truly BELIEVE and have FAITH, because we are human and as humans, we do worry, complain, and get scared. It takes practice in having our thoughts in alignment with the fact that all things positive can be ours if we put our thoughts in that direction.

I’d like to share a few things that “popped” for me when reading Esther and Jerry’s book:

  • Wake up each morning and set an intention of how you want your day to look.
  • Journal your desires and use positive language as you describe what you envision.
  • Set an intention to surround yourself with people who will help you stay positive and living within a high vibrational frequency.
  • Keep a keen eye out for your use of “I do not want” or “I am worried”. If you find yourself going into the not so positive thoughts, quickly re-set and go back to your vision of what you do want.
  • There is abundance for everyone on this planet. A lack of abundance is a fear thought form – one that centers on scarcity.
  • Allow others to be themselves and set their own path. Conversely, do not allow others to distract you from your path.

” Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help on that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way. I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe’s couplets: ‘ Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it!’
