New Year… New Moon… New You…

Happy New Year!

2014 is starting out with a new moon beginning today, January 1st.  This doesn’t happen very often so it makes sense to me to view this as a very special year.

First of all,  I need to give you some background on how I learned a bit about the new moon and the new year.  A few weeks ago,  I attended a Winter Solstice event held by an amazing woman by the name of Laurie Wondra.  Laurie is an incredible woman who has “worked intuitively for over thirty years”… she is a psychic medium but one that may not fit your idea of what a psychic medium may look like.  Laurie has worked in the Information Technology (IT) world for over 25 years.  She has also been in Executive Management and works as an Executive Coach.  I find it very interesting that Laurie is basically a “techie” and a business leader… roles that highly analytical people tend to gravitate towards.  For a highly intuitive person to be in the IT field was probably the most fascinating for me since I have worked with many IT professionals over my career and I would have to say that picturing any of them believing in psychic powers was a bit of a stretch!  Laurie is one of those people that you feel an immediate emotional connection to.  Her words are gentle and kindness emanates from her soul. I have never spent time with a medium so I walked into this event with a good amount of curiosity on how she worked and what she would have to share with us.  Let me say,  I was immediately impressed because she asked questions of her audience about how 2013 had been for us and much to my amazement,  everything she described in terms of the energy that surrounded us in 2013 was EXACTLY what had gone on in my life… it was really uncanny and I knew that she had a gift for understanding of the energies within our universe.

January 1, 2014 – New Moon

Per Laurie,  it is unusual for a new moon to fall exactly on January 1st.  As Laurie shared in her handout to all of us, the “New Moon is symbolic of new beginnings.  On New Year’s Day this is a clue that we’re actually about to encounter something different… NEW – the question… what have we been creating, and what yet do we WANT to create!!!

Laurie writes that the moon moves in phases and that both 24 hours before and 24 hours after the phase are equally powerful times… which means today is the perfect day to tap into that power!  When we do not see a moon, that is a new moon phase.  This is a great time to set intents for what we want to “bring in”.

To paraphrase what I learned from Laurie, today (January 1, 2014) is a great day to:

  1. Think about what we want to create new in our life.  What changes do we want to make?  What do we want to achieve? Where do we want to go?  Who do we want to be?
  2. Be firm in our intentions.
  3. Be clear and succinct in our intentions.
  4. Create our intentions without fear.

I would like to leave you with a 2014 Mantra from Laurie:

Where your focus goes… energy flows.

Where energy flows… intent is set.

The universe manifests on our intents…

Focus wisely… and never under-estimate the power of your energy.

  1. What are you looking to create… change… achieve in 2014?  Where would you like to go?  Who would you like to be?
  2. What are some of the fears that may stop you from creating your intentions for this year?

Thank you for supporting me in reading and responding to my blog during my first year.  Thanks to all of you, I have achieved close to 300 views on average per month which feels pretty darn good for a first year blogger!  I hope you have found some of my posts entertaining, thought-provoking and everything in between and I look forward to hearing from more of you in 2014.

My intention today is to wish you all an abundance of peace, comfort, prosperity, joy and most of all LOVE during this New Moon and New Year!
