“Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.” ~ William Hutchinson Murray
I was blown away Sunday morning…
Sunday morning, I had the opportunity to coach someone and help her in envisioning and creating her intentions for the next year in her life. What started out as a conversation in which my client was a bit tentative and not confident in her abilities to achieve her goals, ended with her being overcome with emotion because she could see and more importantly, she believed that she could reach the goals she wanted to reach over the next twelve months. Her emotional breakthrough came when I asked “how much do you deserve to be where you want to be?”. The change in her within less than an hour’s time was beyond incredible and frankly is indescribable… one had to feel it to truly understand what had just transpired during this phone call…
What is an intention? Per Dictionary.com an intention is:
1. an act or instance of determining mentally upon some action or result.
2. the end or object intended; purpose.
Intention is all about commitment, action and faith… faith in our abilities, our knowledge and our resourcefulness to create our own future. Intention is about having a keen eye and being on the look out for the opportunities that show up in our path to help us achieve what we are looking for. Remember the movie The Field of Dreams and the comment “if you build it they will come”? That is what creating intentions is all about… if you mentally create what result you are looking for… it will happen (more times than not).
The following excerpt (given to me by the founder of the organization I have been a part of for almost twenty-four years) has followed me around the country as I moved from one career opportunity in my organization to the next…
Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is on elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, the Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of event issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed and would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now .~ William Hutchinson Murray
“the moment one definitely commits oneself,… all sorts of things occur to help… that would never otherwise have occurred…” Pretty powerful don’t you think?
What is your intention for the next year… six months…three months… thirty days…?
