Yogattitude

“Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.”

I started taking a yoga class a few weeks ago and now that we are starting to see glimmers of spring after a very cold and rainy May in Minnesota,  I attended my first outdoor yoga class on Thursday night.     I am pretty new at this yoga thing which is probably not a surprise to anyone who knows me… I am not the most flexible person,  I do not have a yogaesque body and being serene is not a word anyone would use to describe me… but on Thursday night none of that mattered at all.

My body responded to the moves with only a little obstinance and my mind was quieted as I was surrounded by the incredible sights and sounds of nature.  The birds were singing as early evening approached,  the bees buzzing around me did not cause me to run in a frantic panic and the clouds that were set against the  brilliant blue sky took on the shapes of horses galloping across the sky…  it was AMAZING!

When I left work Thursday,  my mind was whirling with thoughts of having to do this, that and the other thing to prepare for going out of town for the weekend.  I had my evening schedule jam packed and relaxation was the last thing on my mind.  I admit I was a bit stressed,  feeling overwhelmed with my “to do” list and getting into a Zen moment just wasn’t in my mind’s eye and then…I went to yoga.

If you ever want to:

  1. Shut yourself up
  2. Have permission to push your belly out before sucking it in
  3. Use muscles you never knew existed
  4. Become un-stressed

I suggest hitting a local yoga class and get your Yogattitude on!
